We didn’t practice long. Kyler kept making moves, which turned into kissing, and before I let him strip me bare on the court, I insisted we head back to my place.

The door is shut for five seconds before Kyler pounces on me, his lips crashing to mine as he lifts me from the ground and carries me to my room.

When he puts me on my bed and steps back to remove his clothes, I take the opportunity to divulge in Riley’s advice.

“Kyler, I need to say something… and I need you to like, fully listen, because I didn’t think I’d be saying this.”

“What’s going on?”

There’s an awkward silence to the room as I practice saying it in my head. These words, they’re going to change things between us. Maybe not immediately, but it’ll set the tone. And I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

“You’re being quiet, and it’s scaring me,” Kyler admits. His hands slide up my thighs, the comforting warmth of their touch gently settling the nerves building inside me.

“I was jealous today.” Fuck. Okay. It’s out there now.

“Jealous?”

“Of those girls. The one flirting with you, the model you posed with… I. Was. Jealous. And I never get jealous, it isn’t my thing. But you’re starting to make me a little crazy, and…”

“You were jealous? Why?” His brows furrow.

The little asshole is going to make me say it. “Because… because I think I’m starting to like you more than I originally planned, and I didn’t like seeing you with them.”

“I didn’t flirt back,” he blurts. “If you had stayed, you’d have seen that.”

“I couldn’t. It made me… nauseous, angry.”

“Angry? Why?”

“Because I wanted it to be me touching you. Only me.”

Kyler’s face switches from shock to a cheeky smile. “Fuck, you don’t know how long I’ve been waiting to hear you say that. I knew you’d give in eventually,” he grins.

And then he’s on me like a feral animal.

His big hands frame my face, smooshing my lips out. Kyler wastes no time in claiming them while simultaneously crawling us both up the bed.

The look on his face when I said that… it does things to me. It’s like he’s been waiting years to hear it when we’ve only known each other a couple months.

Like waiting outside on the holidays for the store to open and feeling relief when you’re finally in the doors.

Butterflies erupt in my stomach, fluttering profusely. My heart rate picks up, pounding heavily against all my pulse points. I feel warm and fuzzy, and content.

It makes me want to give more of myself to him just to see that look again.

Fuck. I think I’m going crazy and starting to… like, really like Kyler. I must be, to say what I’m about to say.

“Kyler.” Kiss.

“Yes.” Kiss.

“Listen to me.” Kiss.

“You know, you once told me that talking dampened the mood.” He continues kissing me, working his way down my neck, tracing the sensitive skin with heated desire.
